Lincolnshire Fish Health (LFH) was established in 1980 by Dr Paula Reynolds Consultant in Fish Medicine and Aquatic Pathobiologist
The primary work of the centre is research into fish diseases and the antimicrobials, pharmaceuticals and chemicals used in disease treatment and the general welfare of Koi. New methods of disease prevention and diagnosis are an ongoing project.
The work of the centre is predominately in Koi although other fish species are studied for comparative biology.
Sensitive to certain specific fish pathogens The Lincolnshire Fish Health BioDip is used to assess the bacterial level of pond water. When a high level of bacteria is suspected due to some signs in the fish such as raised scales or skin reddening the dip can confirm if this is water borne. The dips are supplied in a pack of two and should be left unopened until use. A leaflet is supplied with every pack and explains how to take the dip, incubate it at home, and read the result. A BioDip can be taken before and after the use of a pond medication to ascertain how effective it has been. If you have any problems using or reading the BioDip Lincolnshire Fish Health are pleased to advise
